There are a lot of childhood photos of me (because my dad was a photographer) but relatively few of me as an adult (because I was the one holding the camera). Here is one from 2008 where, unusually, I was unaware of the camera. Doing what I normally do- running computer courses, this one was a digital image workshop that was looking at all of the workflow issues for taking pictures/ scanning, adjusting them, and getting them into electronic files. As one of the exercises we had some cameras and scanners around (and an odd collection of artifacts and lighting conditions) so people could see how it worked in practice. Someone happened to snap this picture of me with one of the class cameras when I was unaware.

This is such a lovely photo. Such halcyon days it recalls.

I've always liked this pic of me and my bro (he's in green with New Wave haircut). It captures so much of what made my childhood great. The boat, hand-built by my Dad's best friend Keith who made one for each of them, was the first in a line of boats that would be part of every summer for me until university age. The fish - well I could make an entire Tumblr titled My Family With Dead Things - because my dad had been a keen hunter in his youth and when mum bought the breaks on his guns he just switched to fishing. There was always fish at summer, wherever we were holidaying. As a kid I never like crayfish. It pains me to think of the huge crayfish I turned my nose up at then. The folly of youth.
This photo evokes that endless summer we had as kids. Never wearing shoes. Always tanned and frequently sun burnt. Smelling of salt and with matted hair cause who shampoos at the beach when your a kid? -

Nine months pregnant with the first child, in our first house.
I love this photo! It is so full of joy and awesomeness – and it’s refreshing to see a pregnant woman photographed from that angle. <3

Gorgeous memories and interpretations on the theme. Enjoyed every single one - great warmth in sharing. I had to go for two - who I was and who I am. My husband and I are both the youngest (the babies) in our families. The top photo is the only picture we have of 'we two youngests' with both sets of our parents. Then we had our babies, and our babies had their babies ... and in no time at all - we are the grandies in the family photo. This wheel of life never ceases to amaze me.
